Director Vincent
Kinnaird is to premiere his latest short film ‘The Linnet’ at a gala screening in Belfast’s Queen’s Film Theatre on Saturday 10th December 2005.
Produced by Notasuch Films, the 13min short is the tale of a lonely bird-watching softie whose life is brightened when touched by a magical bird, the Linnet. Belfast born director Kinnaird says ““The short’s like a fairy tale: with bad words in it!”
Supported by the NIFTC’s lottery fund, ‘The Linnet’ is a fusion of live action and animation created by the Nerve Centre’s John McCloskey in Derry. The cast includes newcomers Anthony McKenna (Wilderness), Liz Milligan and Pete Devine. Shot on High Def by DOP Angus Mitchell and finished as a 35mm print, with Soren Kloch (frequent collaborator of Lars Von Trier) supervising the scan back to Film at Molinare in London.
In the last six months, Notasuch Films has also completed the 40 minute Documentary ‘Movie Mavericks’ and the 60 minute programme ‘Films of the Spence Bros.’ for the BBC. Kinnaird’s previous short film ‘Lladia’ won a BAFTA/KODAK award in 2003.
