Galway Film Fleadh Highlights Announced

The programme for the 17th Galway Film Fleadh has been announced, the festival week looks action packed with highlights including Irish and international premieres, Q&A’s with award winning directors and Hollywood actors.

Gaby Dellal’s ‘On A Clear Day’ will open the festival on the 5th of July with the film’s

director and star Peter Mullan attending the screening. Other international films screening at the Fleadh are ‘The Dying Gaul’ with actors Patricia Clarkson & Campbell Scott attending. ‘Waiting For the Clouds’ with Turkish director Yesim Ustaoglu present and Doug Sadlers ‘Swimmers’. Luis Mandoki will attend the screening of his feature ‘Innocent Voices’ in addition to hosting the Fleadh’s directors workshop.

Other guests confirmed for the Fleadh include; Lucile Hadzihalilovic, France (Innocence); Srdjan Koljevic, Serbia and Montenegro (Red Coloured Grey Truck); Hany Abu-Assad, Palestine (Paradise Now); Dmitry Troitsky, Russia (You I Love); Tawfik Abu Wael, Palestine (Thirst); Manel Mayol, Spain (Switch Off); Ignacio Nacho, Spain (Polidero); Mystelle Brabbée, USA (Highway Courtesans).

Hollywood actor Matt Dillon (Crash, There’s Something About Mary, To Die For) will be in town for the Irish premiere of his directorial debut feature ‘City of Ghosts’ and will participate in a public interview with Rattlebag’s Myles Dungan after the screening.

Irish highlights at the festival include the premiere of Dermot Doyle’s DV feature film ‘Hill 16’, Perry Ogden’s traveller documentary ‘Pavee Lackeen’ and Stephen Bradley zombie-comedy ‘Boy Eats Girl’ starring Samanthan Mumba, Patrick Kenny’s ‘Winters End’ will also premiere at the Fleadh and Anthony Byrne’s romantic feature ‘Short Order’ which will close the Fleadh on the 10th of July.
