Five Awards For TG4 at Oireachtas an Gaeilge

TG4 has been rewarded with five awards at the Oireachtas na Gaeilge 2005 Media Awards in Letterkenny. Recipients included a 'Ros na Rún’s' Aodh Óg Ó Duibheannaigh and Bob Quinn’s documentary 'Cinegael Paradiso'.

TG4 has been rewarded with five awards at the Oireachtas na Gaeilge 2005 Media Awards in Letterkenny. Recipients included a 'Ros na Rún’s' Aodh Óg Ó Duibheannaigh and Bob Quinn’s documentary 'Cinegael Paradiso'.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Diarmuid Mac an Adhastair. A well known stage actor, Diarmuid has also had done screen work shadowing the late John Mills in ‘Ryan's Daughter’, he has come into his own as the irascible old bachelor Séamus Mhicil Tom in the channel's long-running soap ‘Ros na Rún’.

Brian Tyers received the TV Personality of the Year award, Brian was the channel's first sports commentator and he has covered GAA, soccer and many other sports in between. Journalist of the Year was Tomás Ó Mainnín from Nuacht TG4 for his tsunami reportage. TV Programme of the Year was Bob Quinn’s ‘Cinegael Paradiso’ documentary. While Aodh Óg Ó Duibheannaigh scooped the Actor of the Year prize.

TG4 Ceannasaí, Pól Ó Gallchóir, said he was delighted at the number and range of awards from Oireachtas na Gaeilge. "Our core audience has many choices and to receive so many prizes from the country's foremost Irish language festival is the highest praise that TG4 can get," he said
