Post It Bound For Cannes
12 May 2005 :

Richard Callaghan

Richard Callaghan, CEO of Post It, is packing his SPF30 and heading for the French Riviera this weekend to attend the Cannes Film Festival and Market. There he hopes to meet both Irish and International filmmakers, aiming to add projects to his company’s growing slate.

Over the past two years Post It has seen its productivity grow impressively.  The Dublin based facility is kitted out with some of the latest cutting edge technology (Avid Adrenaline; Shake; Media 100i; After Effects; Final Cut Pro; Combustion; Softimage; Maya; Lightwave and DVD Studio Pro) which has enabled the company to expand in all areas including; DVD multimedia, 2D & 3D graphics, motion graphics, commercials & broadcast editing and, most recently with great success, Standard Definiton and High Definition (HD) editing.

Post It CEO Richard Callaghan says “talent, creativity and teamspirit” are the qualities he looks for when hiring new editors and the team he has gathered at Post It is made up of experienced, proficient and professional editors and graphic designers.  Leading the pack is Post It’s newest recruit Luca Benetti.  Italian born Luca has joined Post It as their no.1 editor.  His previous credits include Michael Apted’s HBO/BBC production ‘ Rome’ (asst.editor) Renny Harlin’s Exorcist:The Beginning (asst. editor) and Saverio Costanzo’s award winning documentary ‘The Red Room’ (editor). He believes working in Ireland will be an inspirational and productive experience; “there is a great team spirit here at Post It” says Luca,  “my approach and the energy I put into my work will always remain the same no matter where I am.  In the USA the directors allowed me more creative input than in Italy, and I am finding that creative freedom and expression the same in Ireland.”

Other editors manning the Post It editing suites include Marc Sherwin, Rob Brett and Steve McDveitt. A multimedia / broadcast / motion-graphics expert with six years experience, McDevitt,  says he’s always got his mind on the job, “You've to keep yourself open the whole time, not just before a new project, like when you're

watching TV or a film, when you're in the pub or walking down the street. Ideas are floating about everywhere, you just have to collect them and then channel them when a project comes up.” Not afraid to go that extra mile he says the best advice he can offer aspiring editors is to “learn to say ‘I’ll be working late tonight honey’, with sincerity!”

Post It's Editing Suite

Post It’s client list includes RTE, Sky, Setanta Sports, CoCo TV, Earth Horizon (Eco Eye), Fastnet Films, Belmont Productions, BOC Productions, DMI, Orpheus Films, Chemistry, QMP Publicis, McConnells, Young Euro, and ‘Lost Dogs’, the feature film by Optimist Films.  Callaghan is keen to expand this client base further over the coming months.  “Developing business outside of Ireland has always been part of Post Its business plan. Now as a result of the success of ‘Lost Dogs’ on the international stage our talents have been proven and my job has become a little easier. Now Post It has been booked for 3 more features over the next 12 months and is quoting on several other projects.”

Those projects include; two new feature films with ‘Lost Dogs’ producers Optimist Films, entitled ‘Silvia’ and ‘Charlie Noades RIP’; a 26 part series for French television and a 3 part documentary for US networks.

Beyond these projects Callaghan envisions a bright future for Post It that sees him lining out alongside the heavy hitters in Dublin’s competitive facilities market.

“Post It now is a real alternative to the big boys in the Dublin market providing the quality, personal and cost effective service from corporate, broadcast and film projects. Constant expansion is not our key but will come as needed to facilitate clients needs and right now, we can offer a whole lot.”
