'Experience The Digital Hub' - a programme of exhibitions and seminars celebrating Ireland's digital media sector has begun in Dublin.
Many of the events are focused on the gaming sector, a sector which is experiencing significant levels of growth particularly driven by foreign direct investment, of which about 30% of these games companies have chosen The Digital Hub as their preferred location.
Included in the programme of events are a number of exhibitions and public seminars. 'Exhibit8: New Frontiers in gaming' will explore the world of gaming, and features some of the most highly sought after video games in the world, including 'Scarface' which is not yet available on the Irish market.
As part of 'Experience The Digital Hub' there will be two Irish third level exhibitions from students at Trinity College Dublin and NCAD, and the month will also feature an exhibition of the work of local school children and adults in Dublin's Liberties, who take part in The Digital Hub's learning programme, the Diageo Liberties Learning Initiative.
"Over the coming weeks, we hope that anyone with an interest in digital media and particularly gaming will visit The Digital Hub and enjoy the diverse programme of events that we are offering," said Philip Flynn.
The Launch of 'Experience The Digital Hub' took place in 'The Digital Exchange', which is the building formerly occupied by Media Lab Europe.
"In recent weeks the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources has allocated substantial floor space in this building to the Digital Hub Project. Apart from providing us with the capacity to host this programme of events, we are happy to offer this high quality space to companies such as Californian games developers TKO Software and DC Studios, who are one of the most recent 'wins' for The Digital Hub",
said Mr Flynn.
