The NIFTC are seeking applications for the Bill Miskelly Award, an annual award of £1000, made to a postgraduate student undertaking a course of study at postgraduate level in film or television, with the aim of entering the industry in Northern Ireland.
This award has been established by the family of Bill Miskelly and by the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission (NIFTC), in memory of Bill’s long and distinguished career both in the BBC and with Aisling Films, as a producer, director and writer.
Bill Miskelly knew from experience the practical and financial problems faced by the students attempting to obtain training in film and television at this level. Realising that new, young talent is the lifeblood of the industry, Bill was always ready to advise and help newcomers throughout the course of his own career.
The Miskelly family feel that this award is an appropriate way of continuing this encouragement of new talent by offering financial help to young graduates wishing to equip themselves for a career in film and television.
