Shooting is finally underway on two major Irish feature film productions; Dublin is hosting Charles Sturridge’s ‘Lassie Come Home’ and Ken Loach’s ‘The Wind That Shakes The Barley’ has begun principal photography in Cork.

‘Lassie Come Home’ is written and directed by Charles Sturridge and stars Peter O’Toole, Samantha Morton, Peter Dinklage, Steve Pemberton, John Lynch, Jemma Redgrave and Gergor Fisher. The six week shoot began on Dublin’s Dame Street yesterday with location shoots in Wicklow and the Isle of Man also planned. The film is produced by Element Film’s Ed Guiney, Firstsight Films’s Charles Sturridge and Francesca Barra in conjunction with Classic Media.

Irish War of Independence drama ‘The Wind That Shakes The Barley’ has begun shooting in Cork with Cork native Cillian Murphy in the lead role. He is joined by co-stars Liam Cunningham and newcomer Padraic Delaney. A seven week shoot is planned for the €7million feature. DOP is Barry Ackroyd and production designer is Fergus Clegg. Once again Element Film’s Ed Guiney is producing with his partner Andrew Lowe and the film is a co-production with Rebecca O’Brien at Sixteen Films.
