Two Irish feature films, Neil Jordan’s ‘Breakfast On Pluto’ and Stephen Bradley’s ‘Boy Eats Girl’, are set to world premiere at the 2nd London UK Film Focus.
‘Breakfast On Pluto’ was shot in 2004 on locations in the North and South of Ireland, starring Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson, the film also features Stephen Rea, Brendan Gleeson and Gavin Friday among the cast.
Horror flick ‘Boy Eats Girl’ was also shot in Dublin during the Summer of ’04 with songstress Samantha Mumba (The Time Machine) in the lead role.
The London UK Film Focus (LUFF) is scheduled to begin on the 27th of June and will run for three days. The event is an initiative from Film London in conjunction with the UK Film Council and Film Export UK, exclusively for British films completed in 2005, with more than 140 international buyers are expected to attend. Paddy Breathnach’s ‘Man About Dog’ received its premiere there in 2004.
Other films tipped for this year’s LUFF include ‘Silence Becomes You’ with Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) & Sienna Guillroy (Resident Evil: Apocalypse); Neil Marshall’s horror ‘The Descent’; Steen Agro’s ‘Shut Up And Shoot Me’ and Gary Yates’ comedy-drama ‘Niagara Motel’ .
LUFF Co-coordinator Helena Mackenzie said: “With the international sales arena changing, sales agents can no longer rely on the old style traditional markets and with Cannes market screenings expected to be incredibly busy, the screening competition is far higher making it even more difficult to attract buyers. LUFF provides a much more relaxed and less competitive showcase opportunity for sale agents to screen and deal.”
