Shooting has completed on Oidhreacht, a 16-minute short film. Written and directed by Colm Bairéad and produced by Greg Corcoran for Fingers Crossed Films, 'Oidhreacht' was commissioned as part of the Lasair scheme administered by Filmbase and TG4.
Set in 1994; a country on the brink of affluence. A family speaking a strange language. ‘Oidhreacht’ is a film about loss, about family, about coming to terms with our past.
The cast features Macdara Ó’Fatharta (Ros na Rún, Blackwater Lightship, The Butcher Boy), Ronan Wilmot (Bachelor’s Walk, On Home Ground, The General), Paddy C. Courtney (Yu Ming is Ainm Dom, Fluent Dysphasia), Paul Roe (Adam & Paul, Veronica Guerin, Proof 2), John Burke (An Cruthaitheoir, Pandora), Cain Williams (A Dublin Story, Pandora) and introducing Georgia Cronin and Dean McCarthy.
‘Oidhreacht’ was shot on Sony Hi-Def by DoP Fergal O’Hanlon. Camera, grip and lighting equipment were provided by John Leahy at the Production Depot.
Post-production begins this weekend at Screenscene. ‘Oidhreacht’ is to be edited by John Paul Shortt.
Fingers Crossed Films expect to have a finished product ready to premiere at the Cork Film Festival in October and primed to hit the international festival circuit thereafter.
