Screen Acting Academy Bow Street are this week celebrating their one year anniversary.

Originally set up as The Factory by filmmakers John Carney (‘Once’) Kirsten Sheridan (‘Disco Pigs’) and Lance Daly (‘Kisses’), Bow Street is now run by casting director Maureen Hughes (‘Love/Hate’, ‘Charlie’), filmmaker Shimmy Marcus (‘Soulboy’) and general manager Paul O’Connor.

Speaking to IFTN about the milestone, casting director Maureen Hughes said: “We are thrilled to have hit this, our first milestone, and to have achieved so much in one year. A collaboration with industry leaders Spotlight, a one year Programme for Screen Acting, Advanced and Foundation courses in Screen Acting, a partnership with Screen Training Ireland, an Actors Studio, a Teenage Film School and public interviews and talks with some of Europe’s leading filmmakers and casting industry professionals. More than that, Bow Street has created a home for the Irish acting community which we hope will just get better and better.”

Check out our interview with Maureen earlier this year about Bow Street and her career here.

Bow Street has trained over 120 actors including Jack Reynor, Peter Coonan, Seana Kerslake and Brian Gleeson. Acting coach Gerry Grennell who has worked with some of the biggest names in film including Marlon Brando, Tom Cruise, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep is now aligned to Bow Street. His unique concepts on screen acting form the foundation of all training methods at Bow Street.

Bow Street was officially launched earlier this year with six time Oscar nominee and recent IFTA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Jim Sheridan cutting the ribbon.
