Ben De Paer Named Channel Four News Editor… Channel 4 News foreign editor Ben de Pear has been named the new editor of the broadcaster's flagship television news programme. De Pear will replace Jim Gray, the longest-serving editor of Channel 4 News, who stepped down last month after 14 years in the job. De Paer said: “Channel 4 News is the programme I've always wanted to work for, so I feel truly honoured to be given the opportunity to lead this remarkable team.”
Vue makes bid for Cinemaxx… UK cinema group Vue Entertainment is set to take over German multiplex chain Cinemaxx as it seeks to expand its European operation, according to Variety. Vue announced today that it is hoping to acquire all outstanding shares in Cinemaxx through a voluntary public takeover offer.
‘The Dark Knight Rises’ on course to soar at box office… "Tracking" figures for director Christopher Nolan's forthcoming final Batman film ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ predict that it will perform even more impressively at the box office than its blockbuster predecessor, ‘The Dark Knight’, according to The Guardian. The estimates, based on research by studios into the viewing plans of cinemagoers, suggest it will eclipse the record-breaking $158.4m opening of the 2008 movie.
