Irish feature film ‘Good Vibrations’ is set to receive its international premiere next week when it opens the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on June 29.
Directed by husband and wife team Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn (Cherrybomb) with a script by writers Colin Carberry and Glenn Patterson, ‘Good Vibrations’ is one of three films set to screen during the June 29-July 7 festival in the Czech Republic. Belfast-born director Jon Wright’s comedy-horror ‘Grabbers’ and Carol Morley’s ‘Dreams Of A Life’ will also be shown.

‘Good Vibrations’ tells the story of Belfast music legend Terri Hooley. It stars Richard Dormer in the title role (Five Minutes of Heaven), Jodie Whittaker (One Day), Liam Cunningham (Hunger), Dylan Moran (A Cock and Bull Story) and Adrian Dunbar (The Crying Game).

A co-production between Belfast’s Canderblinks Film & Music, London’s Revolution Films and Dublin’s Treasure Entertainment, the film received its world premiere at last month’s Belfast Film Festival

Andrew Eaton (The Trip), Chris Martin (Peacefire,) and musician David Holmes produced the film.

Production design was handled by Derek Wallace (The General, In The Name of The Father) while Catherine Geary (Hunger) was the location manager. DOP on the shoot was Ivan McCullough (The Eclipse).

Post-production was carried out at Screen Scene with Nick Emerson editing the film and Warren Dowling finishing. Helen Sheridan was first assistant editor, Michelle Cuniffe was the dialogue editor and Ken Galvin provided the sound mix. Nikki Moss was the supervising sound editor.

Executive producers on the feature include Joe Oppenheimer for BBC Films, Bruno Charlesworth from Immaculate Conception Films, Nigel Thomas from Matador Pictures and Treasure Entertainment's Robert Walpole and Rebecca O’Flanagan.

‘Good Vibrations’ received funding from BBC Films, Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Screen, BBC Northern Ireland, Immaculate Conception Films, Matador Pictures and Cinema One.

Karlovy Vary IFF is one of the oldest and most prestigious international film festivals in Central and Eastern Europe and will screen over 200 films from all corners of the globe.
