Monster Ink Deals with Discovery at MIPTV
13 Apr 2012 : By Eva Hall
I'm a Creepy Cralwy
Dublin-based production and distribution company Monster Entertainment has returned from the MIP TV event in Cannes with three new deals in its pocket.

Discovery Networks International acquired Monster Entertainment’s pre-school animated series’ ‘I’m a Creepy Crawly’, ‘I’m a Dinosaur’ and ‘I’m a Monster’ at the networking event held in Cannes on March 30 last.

‘I’m a Dinosaur’ and ‘I’m a Monster’ are expected to air immediately, with ‘I’m a Creepy Crawly’ scheduled to air in July on Discovery’s Central/South Asian, India and Pacific Rim territories. The series, which is currently in production, is due for delivery in June 2012. With a format of 52 x 2 minutes episodes, ‘I’m a Creepy Crawly’ has already pre-sold to 60 territories, including RTÉ, YLE Finland, BBC Canada, Dr Denmark and Noga Israel.

Andrew Cotty is directing the animation, with Deirdre Barry of Monster Entertainment producing. Post production will take place at Monster.

It was Monster Entertainment’s 17th year attending MIP, which has had its own stand at the event since 1995. It has also previously worked with Discovery UK, when Discovery acquired the Brown Bag Films animation ‘Why?’

Speaking to IFTN, Monster Entertainment’s chairman Andrew Fitzpatrick said Discovery made a good fit for Monster’s latest animated series’ due to its “significant education policy”.

‘I’m a Creepy Crawly’ gives its audience an insight to the lives of creepy crawlies, allowing the insects to share facts about where they live, what jobs they do and how humans can misunderstand them.
