TV3 Springs into Action with New Schedule

Yesterday TV3 announced its spring schedule at the Convention Centre in Dublin. The new schedule sees the broadcaster promising over fifty hours of home produced content each week which includes TV3 staples like Ireland AM, Vincent Browne and Xposé.

However TV3’s original output is set to increase this year with the building of two brand new studios in Ballymount. Construction on the studios is due to be finished in August of this year, will be HD ready and include the capacity for live audiences.

New shows included on the schedule for TV3’s big week include ‘Beware Ireland’ with Jim McCabe and ’24 hours to kill’ with TV3 news reporter Dyane Connor on Monday evenings. Tuesdays will see interior designer Neville Knot host a new task programme ‘Neville’s Doorstep Challenge’ and the return of TV3’s reality programme ‘Hen Nights’.

Wednesday night sees TV3 search for Ireland’s best amateur baker with ‘The Irish Bake Off’ and reality programme ‘Southside Housewives’. Thursday’s will see 4-part drama series ‘Titanic’ setting sail on TV3, the series is from the people behind Downton Abbey and is a TV3 co-production. Fridays are being described as ‘flirty’ with programming like ‘Tallafornia’, ‘Take Me Out’ and ‘Come Dine With Me’, which will see two more celebrity dinner editions.

TV3’s ‘Big Week’ is rounded off with a weekend of family orientated programming including Ireland AM host Alan Hughes’ new gameshow ‘Alan Hughes’s Family Fortunes’ on Saturday evenings, which will include celebrity editions with guests like Amanda Brunker, The Priests and Sharon Shannon. Sunday will see Nora Owen’s take over the famous ‘Mastermind’ format, newcomer Liam Heffron host ‘As Seen On TV’ and the return of American drama series ‘Dallas’ with a brand new series.

Director of Programming for TV3, Ben Frow said, “Whatever you are into and whenever you are watching, this spring you can expect big themed entertainment every night of the week – programming that not only gives people something to watch, but something to talk about. The schedule for spring 2012 is built with shows that TV3 have not only acquired or commissioned, but also powerful programming that we ourselves have created and our confidence is these programmes is reflected in their position at the very heart of TV3s Big week.”
