Call For Entries Human Rights Film Awards

Hearing Silence 2011 nominee
Applications are now being taken for the 2012 Irish Council for Civil Liberties Human Rights Film Awards.

The competition, which is it’s forth year, aims to provide film students, filmmakers and those working in human rights a chance to contribute to the human rights discourse in Ireland by dealing with these issue through film.

The awards jury for 2012 includes award winning director and writer Rebecca Miller (The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, The Ballad of Jack and Rose) Tomm Moore creative director of Cartoon Saloon, director Kirsten Sheridan (August Rush, Disco Pigs), actress Victoria Smurfit(The Clinic, About a Boy) and director Ken Wardrop (His and Hers, Ouch!) and

‘Listen To Me’ by Mabel Lozano (Las sabias de la tribu, La Teoría del Espiralismo) won the award in 2011 with shortlisted titles including Francis Cassidy’s (Learning the Love Louise Again, SPIRASI The Safe Place) short ‘Freedom Driver’ and ‘Hearing Silence’ directed by Hillary Fennell (Imagining Ulysses, We’re Here, We’re Queer, We’re Irish).
