Irish broadcaster TV3 has launched a new online catch-up player ‘3player’, which works on all devices including the iPhone and iPad.
The 3player is the first of its kind on the Irish market, which can be used on a multiple devices, including iPhone and iPad and Android mobile devices. The new Video on Demand (VOD) service has a 30% bigger screen than the previous TV3 player and a predictive search engine tool, which also allows viewers to search by key words rather than programme titles.
The player is fully interactive with plug-ins for Facebook, Twitter and Google+ allowing viewers to like, comment and share videos through these platforms. The player will also bring viewers into programmes of similar interest or the next episode of a programme following the completion of the programme they are watching.
The move follows the rapid growth of Video on demand (VOD), with the Irish VOD market expected to be worth over €10m by 2015. TV3 will keep their TV3.ie site which will have full interaction with the 3player, and will continue to offer users up to date News, Sport, Weather, TV Guide and more.
This is one of a number of developments made by TV3 to utilize new digital media, including an app deal with Sony and live election survey tools, such as the TV3 Like-O-Metre which collected instant feedback from audiences during the recent Presidential debate.
Commenting on the launch Stephen Grant, Director of Online at TV3 commented “I’m delighted to announce the launch of 3player. With 3player our viewers have a world-leading online video player environment to catch all the best of TV3 and 3e’s shows and more such as Premier League goals. Our investment in this new, richer environment for catching up with our great content reiterates TV3 commitment to bringing our viewers the best possible entertainment experience, whether they prefer to watch on TV or online on PC’s or mobile devices.”
3player is now available on tv3.ie/3player.
