Brian Woods & Rachel Dowling Scoop Creative Emmys | The Irish Film & Television Network

Irish animator Brian Woods and Irish hairstylist Rachel Dowling have both scooped Creative Emmy Awards. Brian Woods, a graduate from Ballyfermot College of Further Education, received the nod for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for background design on the Disney Channel’s ‘Phineas and Ferb’. The juried award was handed out during the Creative Arts Emmy Award Ceremony, held on Saturday September 10th. Woods worked as location and layout designer for the Disney series. Previous credits include layout designer for ‘House of Mouse’, ‘Mickey’s House of Villains’ and ‘Mickey’s Magical Christmas’.

Irish hairstylist Rachael Dowling was part of the Emmy winning team that won the award for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series, for their work on ‘Dancing With the Stars’. Rachael Dowling has been working in L.A. since 1984 and has styled the stars in top TV series including ‘Roseanne’ and ‘Freddie’.

In the Primetime Emmy Ceremony, which took place last night in Los Angeles, Irish actor Brian F O’Byrne missed out on the gong for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie, with ‘Mildred Pierce’ co-star Guy Pearce nabbing the prize. Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series went to Peter Dinklage in ‘Game of Thrones’, for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in the hit HBO series which filmed in Northern Ireland.

The big winner at the ceremony held last night was ABC mockumentary ‘Modern Family’, which took home top comedy awards including best comedy, supporting acting slots for Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell, and Emmys for directing and writing.
