North Dublin based composers, Dean Valentine and Mark Walsh have composed and produced a song for pre-bedtime programming on the Disney channel which will feature Winnie The Pooh. The pair have since been commissioned to score new Disney series, ‘Beartime Stories’ and Keg Kartoonz’ ‘The Mad Cows’.
Disney initially asked the Dark Matter Sound pair to pitch a song through Dean's manager and agent in London. Facing competition from other writers across the UK and Europe Dean and Mark’s song, ‘Sung as a Bear Can Be’ won out and it will air in the UK, Europe, The Middle East and North Africa between late 2011 and early 2012 as part of pre-bedtime Disney programming featuring Winnie the Pooh. The song will also be translated into Italian, Spanish, French and German.
Disney has since commissioned the pair for more work, asking Dean to compose and score the theme music and Mark to produce sound design for a 12 x 7 minute Disney series entitled ‘Beartime Stories’ currently in pre-production.
Where Irish projects are concerned, Dean is currently working on the theme music and score for a 26x12 animation series for RTÉ and Keg Kartoonz called ‘The Mad Cows’ which is being produced by Michael Algar (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and directed by Noel Kelly (artist, Simsala Grimm).
