The Pier
The final touches are currently being put on new Irish feature film ‘The Pier’. The feature from Black Equus Productions shot in and around Cork and stars Primetime Emmy nominee, Lili Taylor (High Fidelity, The Haunting), Karl Johnston (The Illusionist) and Gerard Hurley (The Pride).

Written, produced and starring Gerard Hurley, ‘The Pier’ centres around Jack McCarthy who has to come home from the U.S. after 20 years when his father, Larry claims to be dying. Finding his father fit enough to take to the golf course, Jack is furious but the appearance of an American tourist, played by Lili Taylor makes him stick around for a while. He tries to call in local debts owed to his father and their time together is strained until Larry decides to finally come clean.

The feature was shot in small Cork towns including Goleen and Schull in June 2010 and is currently in post production with editor, Frank Reid (One Hundred Mornings) at his own studio. The film is to be completed on March 2nd. The director of photography for the feature was Jesse Cain (Two Birds) who shot in HD and the film’s soundtrack was created by Maurice Seezer (Get Rich or Die Tryin’, Disco Pigs).
