Nothing Personal
The European Film Academy has announced this year’s nominations for the European Discovery – the Prix FIPRESCI, amongst them is Ireland/Netherlands co-production, ‘Nothing Personal’. The award, presented annually as part of the European Film Awards, goes to a young and upcoming director for a first full-length feature film.

'Nothing Personal' is written and directed by Urszula Antoniak (Vaarwel) in her English language feature film debut. It was co-produced by Fastnet Films' Macdara Kelleher (Kisses) and Morgan Bushe (Colony) filmed on location in Connemara. The IFTA nominated film follows a growing intimacy between a young runaway played by Dutch actress Lotte Verbeek (Links) and ‘Ondine’ actor, Stephen Rea's reclusive loner.

This year’s nominations were determined by a committee comprised of EFA Board Member Els Vandevorst (the Netherlands), EFA Member Pierre-Henri Deleau (France), and experts Jacob Neiiendam (director of the film festival CPH:PIX, Denmark), Alin Tasciyan (film critic, Turkey), and Mariola Wiktor (Forum of European Cinema, Poland), all of them members of FIPRESCI, the International Federation of Film Critics.

‘Nothing Personal’ will face competition from four other nominated features including Giuseppe Capatondi’s ‘La Doppia Ora’; Florin Serban’s ‘Wu Cand Vreau Sa Fluier, Fluier’; Feo Aladag’s ‘Die Fremde’ and Samuel Maoz’s ‘Lebanon’.

The nominated films will now be made available to all 2,300 members of the European Film Academy. They will vote for the winner who will be announced at the 23rd European Film Awards which will be held in Tallinn, Estonia on December 4th.

The European Film Awards 2010 are presented by the European Film Academy e.V. and EFA Productions gGmbH with the support of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011, Estonian Ministry of Culture, the City of Tallinn, Estonian Cultural Endowment, Enterprise Estonia, Estonian Public Broadcasting, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and BDG.
