Still Films Preps ‘The Master, The Slave & the Bank Manager’ Documentary

17 Nov 2009 |

Still Films are currently in pre-production with their new project, a feature documentary called ‘The Master, The Slave and the Bank Manager’, that will examine a new move by the NGO to protect Indian street children and their hard-earned, albeit meagre, wages.

Directed by Tom Slater, the children featured in the documentary will include Madan, a hard working, drug addicted, sexually active 10 year old and 13 year old Rohit who thrives in his role as the world’s youngest bank manager.

The bank in question has been set up by a local NGO and is run by kids for kids. The goal of setting up the bank is to offer a safe place for street children to save their hard-earned cash, away from the unwanted attention of thieves and the police. Rohit and his small team also offer micro loans for those wanting to establish a small business, helping and encouraging children, like Madan, to gain financial independence from the street gangs.

‘The Master, the Slave and the Bank Manager’ is produced by Nicky Gogan (Trolley Boy, Pyjama Girls) and Aisling Ahmed (The Undertaking) The feature documentary will be partly financed by the Irish Film Board and a two-month shoot will start on location in India early next year.
