Cinemavault has bolstered its American Film Market (AFM) slate with the Irish thrillers ‘Savage’, from director Brendan Muldowney (Final Journey), and ‘The Disturbed’ from Conor McMahon (Dead Meat).

Conor Barry of SP Films, the production company behind ‘Savage’, tells IFTN: “It is a tremendous opportunity to have a company with Cinemavault's proven ability involved with ‘Savage’ - a film we are so proud of."

Starring Darren Healy (Once) and Nora-Jane Noone (The Descent), ‘Savage’ tells the story of a news photographer who, following a vicious assault, drifts into derangement as he changes from a victim to a revenge obsessed aggressor. Funded by the Irish Film Board, the film had its world premiere at the Galway Film Festival and was an official selection at the Darklight Film Festival.

Cinemavault has also acquired Conor McMahon’s ‘The Disturbed’, which also premiered at the Galway Film Festival and was an official selection for the IFI Horrorthon Film Festival. The film tells the tale of a demented duo hiding in the Irish countryside who are about to film the torture of their female captive when a dark presence in the woods is disturbed and starts to haunt them. The film stars Clyde Moles, Stephen Murray and Carla McGlynn (Trapped)

This is the second partnership between the Toronto based sales company and McMahon as Cinemavault handled the director’s previous horror film ‘Dead Meat’ which was sold in over 30 territories. “As a major horror fan I’ve always tried to make films I think other horror fans would like to see,” says Conor McMahon. “I’m really excited about working with Cinemavault again and getting the film out to the people I made it for.”

Michael Paszt, Cinemavault's Vice-President of Acquisitions, negotiated both film deals, he commented: “Year after year, Ireland consistently produces first rate films. It’s a pleasure to once again work with the Irish Film Board and such a talented group of producers.”

Other Irish films being presented at the AFM include ‘Cherrybomb’, ’The Eclipse’, ’Happy Ever Afters’, ’Perrier’s Bounty’, ’Triage’ and ’The Wake Wood’. The American Film Market (AFM) was founded in 1981 and will run this year from November 4th to November 11th where it will screen 445 films. Over 8,000 industry leaders meet at the Santa Monica-based event for eight days of deal-making, screenings, seminars, red carpet premieres, networking and parties. Participants come from over 70 countries and include acquisition and development executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors, festival directors, financiers, film commissioners, producers, writers, the world’s press all those who provide services to the motion picture industry.
