Entrepreneur Noms for Brown Bag & Morgan O’Sullivan

Brown Bag Films and producer Morgan O’Sullivan (The Tudors) have been nominated in the International Category and the Special Category respectively of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2009.

The Smithfield-based computer animation studios Brown Bag Films recently came away from the 2009 Cartoon forum with the title of European Producer of the Year Brown Bag Fims and won an IFTA animation award this year for their ‘Granny O’Grimm’ alternative fairytale series.

Morgan O’Sullivan is the producer of the IFTA winning drama series ‘The Tudors’, the executive producer of film ‘A Shine of Rainbows’, the drama series ‘Father and Son’, ‘Raw’ and the television movie ‘My Boy Jack’.

Other nominees in the International Category include designer Orla Kiely, Hugh O’Donnell, who is the head of the international engineering firm Kentz, and Michael Earls, who invented a now very successful product - rubber floors for cows.

There are two other nominations for the Special Award; horse trainer Aidan O’Brien and founder of the Young Scientist of the Year, Tony Scott.

Ahead of the ceremony at the end of October, the ‘Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards’ programme, broadcasting October 1st, will feature profiles of all the nominees in the International category. Brown Bag Films Managing Director, Cathal Gaffney, will introduce the audience to some of Brown Bag Films’ new programmes, as well as old favourites such as Noddy, which they now produce.

The ‘Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ programme series’ producer is Trisha Canning with Loosehorse productions. It is directed by Peter Murphy, produced by Kathriona Devereux and edited by Zini Darragh. Post was carried out in Egg Post Production.

The Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards ceremony will take place in Dublin’s Citywest Hotel and will again be hosted by writer and business commentator, David McWilliams.

Previous winners include Riverdance's Moya Doherty, Aer Arann's Padraig O Céidigh, Eddie Jordan, and Aidan Heavey of Tullow Oil. In recent years, the Entrepreneur of the Year Programme has recognised exceptional achievements outside of the traditional business arena. Former winners include John O’Shea of GOAL and former President of the GAA Sean Kelly.

‘The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ starts tonight, Thursday October 1st at 10.50pm on RTÉ One.
