Principal Photography has begun in Dublin on ‘The Take’ a 4 x 1hr TV drama to be the centre-piece of Sky’s Spring 2009 schedule. The drama is co produced by Element Pictures.
Adapted from Martina Cole's best-selling novel and set in the East End of London, ‘The Take’ is a gripping family drama set in the criminal underworld spanning 10 years from the height of Thatcherism to the birth of New Labour. Tom Hardy (RocknRolla), Kierston Wareing (Rise of the Footsoldier), Shaun Evans (George Gently), Charlotte Riley (Easy Virtue) and Brian Cox (The Escapist) star.
The 10 week shoot is directed by David Drury (Midnight Man) and produced by Willow Grylls (Mischief Night).
The production is co produced by Dublin company Element Pictures, Company Pictures and Warner Sisters and is being shot on the Red One Digital Camera. Irish crew includes DOP - Owen McPolin (Eden), Costume Designer - Allison Byrne (The Daisy Chain), Production Designer - Susie Cullen (Zonad) and the editor is Chris Ridsdale (White Oleander). Financial support has come from Sky, ITV Global and the Irish Film Board
The drama is due for transmission in May 2009.
