‘Michael Smiley: Something To Ride Home About’ Gets Second Series
18 Aug 2014 :
Green Inc Film and Television has received the green-light for a second series of ‘Michael Smiley: Something to Ride home About’ for BBC One Northern Ireland.

Michael Smiley, the award winning actor and stand-up comedian from Holywood, County Down, will continue his cycling travelogue around Ulster on a quest to meet more pedalling enthusiasts and sharing plenty of funny stories, and observations along the way in the new series that is slated for broadcast on BBC One Northern Ireland in 2015.

The first programme of series one was shot this time last year. Filming of the new 3x30’ series is being planned for September and will again be produced by Chris Jones and directed and edited by George Kane.

It was re-commissioned by BBC Northern Ireland’s Susan Lovell and will be Executive Produced for the BBC by Justin Binding. Binding commented: “We’re delighted to bring Michael Smiley back to our screens and back to our audiences for another series of Something to Ride Home About.

“It was great to get Michael’s unique view on the parts of Northern Ireland he visited, and with the Giro D’Italia being so successful this year it’s perfect timing for Michael to get back on his bike.”

Stephen Stewart, Green Inc’s Managing Director who will executive produce the series for Green Inc. added: “When in full flow, there’s no-one as charismatic, funnier or enthusiastic about cycling than Michael Smiley, so we are all really looking forward to getting back on the road with him for series two.”

Green Inc. also produced ‘Keeping the Castle’ for BBC NI. The show offers unique access to the life of Viscount Crichton, son of the sixth Earl of Erne and heir to the historic family home - Crom Castle in County Fermanagh.
