'Queen and Country' Selected for Director's Fortnight at Cannes
22 Apr 2014 | John Boorman’s latest film ‘Queen and Country’, a sequel to his Oscar-nominated film ‘Hope and Glory’, has been chosen for the prestigious Directors' Fortnight selection at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, which takes place next month from 15th-25th May. ‘Queen and Country’ is produced by Merlin Films with funding from the Irish Film Board and the British Film Institute. Le Pacte is handling international sales for the film.

‘Jimi: All is By My Side’ to open Seattle International Film Festival
22 Apr 2014 | ‘Jimi: All is By My Side’, starring Outkast’s Andre Benjamin in the title role, has been selected to open the Seattle Film Festival on May 15. The film is a biopic based on the life of legendary musician Jimi Hendrix, who himself hailed from Seattle. John Ridley, who wrote and directed the film and recently won an Oscar for his screenplay for ‘12 Years a Slave’, is scheduled to attend the event.

Northern Irish Documentary ‘Road’ gets UK Distribution
22 Apr 2014 | Directed, written and produced by Diarmuid Lavery and Michael Hewitt, sports documentary ‘Road’ has been acquired for distribution in the UK by indie distributor Kaleidoscope Entertainment. The deal was negotiated with British sales banner The Works International. It is hoped that the film will have a release in June.

'The Sea' Sets Sail for Irish Cinemas this Friday
16 Apr 2014 | Nominated for four IFTAs, including Best Film and Best Leading Actor, and winner of the Best Supporting Actress award for Sinéad Cusack, ‘The Sea’ is a drama about a man who returns to the sea where he spent his childhood as he tries to accept the deaths of those he loved as a child and as an adult. John Banville wrote both the original Man Booker Prize-winning novel and the adapted screenplay, while Stephen Brown directed the film in his feature debut.
