Joan Burney Keatings is Chief Executive of Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival.
Originally from Armagh, Joan lives in Moira. She holds a BA Hons in Business Studies and a MSC in Communication, Advertising and Public Relations from Jordanstown.
Joan previously worked in BBC Northern Ireland and has been with Cinemagic since 2001 and has overseen the delivery of numerous Cinemagic Festivals which have included guests such as Brain Cox, Jim Henson Muppets, Dermot O’Leary, Suranne Jones, Charlie Brookes, Julian Fellowes and Lisa Henson.
She devised the idea and format for two very successful award winning Soccermagic Events. Each event brought over 100 celebrities to Northern Ireland to packed out audiences of over 10,000 spectators. Each event secured major national TV coverage.
Joan devised the idea and format for CinemagicMusic, a three day music event which brought high profile music professionals to Northern Ireland to host masterclasses for young people. A the end of the masterclasses a band was put together which then had to perform infront of a live audience at the Cinemagic Music Concert which included 13 live bands in the Centre of Belfast. A full TV programme was commissioned for UTV.
In 2006, Joan won Professional Fundraiser of the Year. Also in 2006 Soccermagic won an UK IPR award for Excellence in Event Management
In 2007 Cinemagic was Awarded National Charity of the Year for Culture, Arts and Heritage.
