New clip for Aisling Walsh’s TIFF screener ‘Maudie’
07 Sep 2016 : Katie McNeice
Walsh’s latest feature is one of eight Irish titles to screen at TIFF from tomorrow September 8th-18th.

‘Maudie’ was recently celebrated as one of the most enjoyed titles at the Telluride film festival in Colorado. Other Irish titles were Jack O’Shea’s ‘A Coat Made Dark’ and two-part RTÉ documentary ‘A Fanatic Heart – Bob Geldof on WB Yeats’.

‘Maudie’ explores the life of Nova Scotia artist Maud Lewis. She is a fragile yet determined character played by Oscar-nominated Sally Hawkins, who perseveres through crippling arthritis to create her art. The project is produced by Bob Cooper, Mary Young Leckie, Mary Sexton and Susan Mullen.

Ethan Hawke co-stars as husband Everett Lewis in the clip below, in a scene depicting the early stages of their romance. This clip first appeared in the Hollywood Reporter.

Other Irish titles screening at TIFF 2016 are Gerard Barrett’s ‘Brain on Fire’, Alan Gilsenan’s ‘Unless’, Lorcan Finnegan’s ‘Without Name’, Jim Sheridan’s ‘Secret Scripture’, Vincent Gallagher’s ‘Second to None’, John Butler’s ‘Handsome Devil’ and Maya Zinshtein’s ‘Forever Pure’.
