The festival runs from October 7th-30th featuring over two hundred films, and opens with Warner Bros’ animated feature ‘Storks’.
The closing film is Roger Ross’ ‘Life, Animated’, which is also due to screen as part of the IFI Documentary Film Festival on Sunday September 5th.
Festival guests include William McGregor (Poldark), Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa (Good Vibrations, Cherrybomb). The New World Cinema programme sees content screening from Ireland, the UK, Canada, Mexico and Serb USA, Mexico, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Netherlands, Austria, Serbia, Latvia, UAE, South Korea Switzerland, Russia, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Hungary, Norway, Belgium, Japan, China and Australia.
By providing film fans with an outlet for world cinema, the aim is to develop and nurture a broader understanding and love of film and to ultimately inspire the next generation of cinema audiences so Cinemagic is looking for enthusiastic ‘CineSeekers’ and ‘CineFocus’ young film reviewers, to view and judge these in-competition films of the festival.

In Association with The Nido Collection and with our funders, sponsors and supporting venues we have been able to present the very best cinema from around the world and design innovative and exciting workshops and practical opportunities for all young people to get involved with this October.”
The Masterclass and Q&A line-up includes a directing masterclass with Oscar-nominated Northern Ireland filmmaker Michael Lennox. Eimear O’Grady (Penny Dreadful, Ripper Street) also features in a stunts workshop as part of Creativity Corner. Bruce Goodison (Leave to Remain) will likewise speak on directing.
The line-up also includes ‘Casting’ with Hubbard Casting, and ‘Film Production’ with Jessica Malik, Gareth Ellis-Unwin, and Leon McGeown Fee.
Junior Talent Labs speakers for 7-11year olds cover model making, storyboarding, programme making and scriptwriting, from professionals behind productions such as ‘Shaun the Sheep’, ‘Corpse Bride’ and ‘Zig and Zag’.
The full festival programme also includes animated content for younger children, Generation Next which showcases work from up and coming filmmakers globally, and the Documentary Forum featuring ‘Dream is Destiny’ from Richard Linklater.
Dublin-based animation studio Brown Bag Films feature in the Educational Programme, which sees world cinema and interactive discussions on a range of topics, such as cinematography, directing, women in film and more. Representatives from BBFC, BAFTA KIDS, Doubleband Films and the Industry Trust will also be in attendance.
