Young Film Consultants Wanted for Cinemagic Festival Panel

Young consultants selected will work with the Cinemagic team to help steer the choice of films for the Festival
Cinemagic has launched its annual call for young film enthusiasts to take on the role of ‘film consultants’ in July (26th-31st) and help select and programme a series of films for the Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival programme for Young People that takes place in Belfast from 9th October-4th November 2015.

The Festival will include new film screenings from around the world, filmmaking workshops, competitions, masterclasses and film education events for young people.

The participants in the young consultants programme in association with Gentle Dental, will work with the Cinemagic team in Belfast to help steer the choice of films for the Festival, as they watch and critique films from around the globe.

Chris Shaw, Cinemagic Programmer said: “The young film consultants will have the opportunity to watch and review international films guided by the Cinemagic team in Belfast and there will be lots of opportunities for discussion and debate. The young people will also contribute ideas for the festival programme and help with the promotion of festival events.”

Young people aged 8-11, 12-14 and 15-18 with a keen interest in film and the enthusiasm to discuss and debate within a group should register by downloading the registration form on www.cinemagic.org.uk and post it to Cinemagic, Young Consultants, 49 Botanic Avenue, Belfast, BT7 1JL or email Claire@cinemagic.org.uk by 17th July 2015.

Young consultants will meet on the following dates in Queen’s Film Theatre, University Square Belfast, as per age category and participants must be available for both dates in their group.

  • 8-11 year olds: Sunday 26th July, 11am-3pm and Monday 27th July, 10am-4pm
  • 12-14 year olds: Tuesday 28th July, 10am-4pm and Wednesday 29th July, 10am-4pm
  • 15-18 year olds: Thursday 30th July, 10am-4pm and Friday 31st July, 10am-4pm

The cost to participate is £10 per person. The programme is open to young people from Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.

The Cinemagic Young Consultants July programme is presented in association with Gentle Dental. The Cinemagic Festival is funded by Northern Ireland Screen supported by DCAL, funded by Belfast City Council and sponsored by George Best Belfast City Airport.
