Animation Ireland has announced the first Irish Animation Awards @ Dingle.
A call for entries is now open and there are 14 categories in total. The categories cover television, short films and craft awards.
The awards will take place on Friday 13th March at the Dingle Skelligs Hotel in Dingle. This is Animation Ireland’s inaugural awards ceremony to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding creative talent present in the Irish Animation, VFX and gaming industries. They also recognise and support animation students, acknowledging them with ‘Best Student Film’ and ‘Best International Student Film’ categories.
Dingle has been home to the Dingle Film Festival and specifically Animation Dingle for the last 3 years and provides the perfect backdrop for the first Ireland Animation Awards.
Cathal Gaffney, Chair of Animation Ireland, stated: “Animation production in Ireland is a thriving industry so it is fitting that the work produced by all the studios is celebrated at this, our inaugural Irish Animation Awards ceremony. The Irish Animation Awards aims to acknowledge all the talent and hard work that makes Ireland one of the world’s leaders of animation production.”
The closing time and date for entries is noon, Friday 9th January 2015. See more on irishanimationawards.ie.
