Cork’s 59th Film Festival to explore the business behind filmmaking through four seminars

This year, for the first time, the Cork Film Festival will host four separate seminars to educate on and discuss the art of film through its Talent Development programme, presented with the support of Tiger Beer.

Keeping with its theme of Film, Music, Ideas, the Film Festival, which takes place from November 7th to 16th 2014, will host the four conferences. Each of the conferences provides its audience with an insight into different aspects of the filmmaking environment and equips them with the skills and knowledge to further develop their film careers.

The Four seminars are:

  • “Emerge”, on Friday, November 14th from 10pm to 3am in the Stack Theatre, Cork School of Music. Explores convergence of art, digital, technology and the media
  • “Fund”, on Wednesday, November 12th from 10am to 1pm at the River Lee Hotel. Short and feature film funding seminar
  • “Listen” a two day event, which begins Wednesday, November 12th and continues on Thursday, November 13th. Brings together film sound professionals with composers to share expertise and ideas regarding the aural aspect of filmmaking
  • “Incubate”, takes place on Saturday, November 15th from 10am to 6pm at the River Lee Hotel. Conference strives to inform filmmakers about the business aspect of being an independent filmmaker

Speaking about the Talent Development programme, James Mullighan, Creative Director of the Cork Film Festival, said: ‘It is hugely important to us at the Film Festival to encourage and develop talent and to educate on filmmaking, so we are particularly proud to add the Talent Development seminars to the mix. It is a great addition to our programme, and we hope it will be of immense benefit to people involved in the industry. I would encourage anyone with an interest in filmmaking to book into the seminars.’
