Celtic Media Festival Call for Entries Now Open
12 Sep 2014 : Deirdre Molumby
Celtic Media Festival’s Call for Entries is open now, with film and programme makers and digital media producers able to submit entries for the prestigious Bronze Torc Awards for Excellence online at www.celticmediafestival.co.uk. With a total of 21 Torc Awards due to be presented at next year’s festival, the variety of categories will celebrate the wealth of film, television, radio and digital media on offer from the Celtic nations and regions.

The 36th Celtic Media Festival, held at Eden Court, Inverness from 22nd – 24th April 2015 and supported by the Highland Council, VisitScotland Conference Bid Fund, Inverness Common Good Fund and Creative Scotland as well as broadcasters and broadcast authorities from the Celtic nations and regions, will see hundreds of delegates enjoy a packed festival programme in the Scottish city.

Full information on the Call for Entries and award categories are available at www.celticmediafestival.co.uk.

Michael Hines, MD of The Woven Thread and Director of Dá la’ san Damhair, winner of the Bronze Torc Award for Entertainment at the 2014 festival, said: “The Woven Thread was very honoured to win a Bronze Torc Award, especially with its first commission and I strongly believe that the festival is hugely important for programme makers.”

Tom Bidwell, ‘My Mad Fat Diary’ writer/showrunner and speaker/panellist at Celtic Media Festival 2014 in St Ives said: “Celtic Media Festival is important because it keeps Celtic culture and language in people's conscience. There are some very talented people working in this section of the industry and some great pieces of work being produced and to recognise that and to spend a few days celebrating that is invaluable.”

Celtic Media Festival 2015 will take place at Eden Court, Inverness from 22nd – 24th April 2015, having been held in the Scottish city twice before in 1987 and 1991 and elsewhere in Scotland seven times.

The festival will showcase the best work from Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Cornwall, Brittany and Galicia. The festival is expected to attract some of the biggest names in the broadcasting and film world to the city.
