Daily Bite: BBC Lines Up Second Talpa format
23 Apr 2012 : By Steve Cummins
The Voice UK
Following the success of ‘The Voice’, the BBC have again turned to the Talpa Media Group for another prime-time format show, while the resignation of Disney Studio’s chairman Rich Ross and the latest video blog from the set of the forthcoming James Bond movie also feature in today’s round-up of international news stories.

BBC to follow ‘The Voice’ with second Talpa format…. BBC1 has ordered a pilot of a second format from Dutch production company Talpa, the firm behind ‘The Voice’, according to Broadcast. The new format, ‘I Love My Country’, is an entertainment show that sees two celebrity teams go up against each other and challenges their knowledge of their nation. The format has already sold in Belgium, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, the Netherlands, China, Nigeria and 18 countries across the Middle East.

Disney Studios chairman resigns… Disney Studios chairman Rich Ross has announced his resignation from the Hollywood giant. His departure comes in the wake of the high-profile box-office failure of ‘John Carter’ at the international market last month. Ross had previously run Disney’s cable channels before taking the role of chairman in 2009. In a statement o he said: “I no longer believe the chairman role is the right professional fit for me. For that reason, I have made the very difficult decision to step down as chairman of the Walt Disney Studios.”

Dolby unveils new cinema audio set-up…. Used to power the audio in just about every international cinema, Dolby have unveiled a new audio platform at NAB in Las Vegas that they say allows filmmakers to more effectively broadcast sound from precise locations all around the cinema - including over audiences’ heads. Variety is reporting that the range of where sound can be pinpointed to is not reliant on the cinema’s initial speaker setup.

If you watch one trailer today…. Not so much a trailer, but here is the latest video blog from the set of the forthcoming James Bond Movie ‘Skyfall’. The blog shows the crew working on scenes in Shanghai, with the finished results of their work due for release on November 9.
