Oscar-nominated director Steph Green will begin filming Irish-German co-production ‘Run and Jump’ in Wicklow and Kerry on June 11.

Set in Kerry, the feature film is a dramatic comedy, which sees a wife struggling to come to terms with the aftermath of her husband’s stroke. Lead character Vanetia, played by Maxine Peake (Silk), finds comfort in American researcher Ted, played by Will Forte (Saturday Night Live), who has been sent to study her husband’s rare condition.

Irish actors Edward MacLiam (Eastenders, Holby City) and Sharon Horgan (Death of a Superhero) also star.

Green (New Boy) will helm ‘Run and Jump’, which will be her feature film debut. Irish author Ailbhe Keogan (Molly & the Cyclops) wrote the script. Dublin-based Samson Films is co-producing with Germany’s Bavaria Films. Tamara Anghie (New Boy, Peacefire) and Martina Niland (Once, Grabbers) will produce for Samson, with Astrid Kahmke and Phillip Kreuzer for Bavaria. Samson Films’ David Collins is executive producer.

A number of key Irish crew make up the rest of the ‘Run and Jump’ family, including line producer Patrick O’Donoghue, who has worked on ‘Albert Nobbs’, IFTA Award-winning editor Nathan Nugent (Love/Hate) and costume designer Kathy Strachan (Death of a Superhero).

Stephen Daly (Raw, Love/Hate) is the production designer while Maureen Hughes (This Must be The Place) looked after casting.

Shooting will take place in both Kerry and Wicklow for five weeks. The feature will be shot using Arri Alexa, with post-production being completed in Germany.

‘Run and Jump’ received funding from the Irish Film Board, Eurimages, the BAI, Section 481, and a number of German investors, including Bavaria Films and FFF Bayern. Global Screen will act as world sales agent, and Senator Films will distribute the film in Germany.
