Ray Winstone and his crew of sea-faring smugglers will conclude principal photography on Sky One’s two-part family adventure ‘Moonfleet’ this Sat 20th July - following a month long shoot spanning Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow.
Dressed in costume as villain Elzevir Block, Ray Winstone was spotted at several locations over the past few weeks including the Stag’s Head pub, the King’s Inns, Howth, Drimnagh castle, and Silver Strand beach which doubled as Moonfleet Bay.
Aneurin Barnard - recently seen in Ciaran Foy’s ‘Citadel' and BBC’s ‘The White Queen' – plays hero John Trenchard, who befriends Winstone’s character in an attempt to locate a legendary lost diamond.
An Element Pictures and Company Pictures production, ‘Moonfleet’ is directed by Andy de Emmony (‘The Bletchley Circle’) and produced by Dan McCulloch (‘Endeavour’).
Other cast members include Dublin actor Lorcan Cranitch, soon to appear in two forthcoming Irish films ‘Love, Rosie’ and ‘The Food Guide to Love’; Anthony Ofoegbu ('Spooks'), whose mother is Irish; Phil Daniels (‘Eastenders’, ‘Time Gentlemen Please’) and Ben Chaplin ('Mad Dogs', 'Dorian Gray').
Ray Winstone will appear next year in Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic ‘Noah’ opposite Russell Crowe and ‘the Gunman’, with Idris Elba and Sean Penn, which is currently in production.
‘Moonfleet’ - adapted from the classic John Meade Falkner by Ashley Pharoah ('Life on Mars') - will air on Sky 1 HD later this year.
