This bridge was named after Honoria “Nano” Nagle, who is one of the greatest women in Ireland. She put up schools for the poor children in Cork in 1752 and also made a home for the orphanages.

The Nano Nagle Bridge, located just along Sullivan's Quay, was completed in March1985 and was the Corporation’s contribution to the celebration of ‘Cork 800’ – a series of events which celebrated the 800th anniversary of the granting of the city’s charter. The single span is over 25 metres long and offers great views 3 ways; along the showpiece Grand Parade, West along Sullivan’s Quay and East along George’s Quay to Father Matthew Church & the RTE building – all landmarks of the City. It's a great spot for doing interviews and pieces to camera.
