Ballycotton is situated twenty five miles from Cork. A famous fishing village, it has both a lighthouse and a world-famous lifeboat.

A rocky spur thrusting out into the sea, its cosy harbour side contrasts with its wild Atlantic cliff side, giving variety in scenery and climate. Its famous lighthouse sits on a small island just offshore, making it a very photogenic place to film, but the lighthouse itself is not easy to access for film crews. The harbour has been modernised and caters mainly for commercial fishing and the Lifeboat together with small boats rather than yachts.

Ballycotton enjoys the proximity of Midleton, Cloyne, Castlemartyr, Garryvoe, Shanagarry area, but it is a place apart. A rocky spur thrusting out into the sea, its cosy harbour side contrasts with its wild Atlantic cliff side, giving variety in scenery and climate. Ballycotton has pure air, clean seawater, incomparably beautiful views and the tranquillity of being at the end-of-the-line.

Distance from Cork: 50 minutes
