Two children from a Liverpool tenement, Finn Dove and Derval, flee to Ireland in an attempt to escape from their brutal stepfather. However when their stepfather, Toby, and their uncle, the Hawk, discover that the children are heirs to a considerable sum of money they attempt to track them down. Hawk is a master of disguise and becomes ubiquitous making escape a formidable release for the children who could not give a toss about the money, craving only the security of their Granny's home in the West.
