Nutgrove was built in 1834 on the site of an earlier dwelling and is built in a late georgian/early victorian style with intricate cornicing in the hall, drawing and dining rooms. The entrance hall is large with a wide door, between sandstone columns, and a sweeping staircase. The reception rooms are large and there are seven bedrooms.

The garden at the front of the house is terraced and semi-circular with trees, bushes and beds. The fountain at the front of the house is supplied with water from the millrace. There are various other garden areas and a larger 2 acre garden with hard tennis court, vegetable and flowerbeds, orchard, arboretum, hedges and lawns with spectacular views of the Mourne Mountains.

The yards are surrounded by lovely stone outbuildings and are separated from the house by the river that runs from the lake/millpond that provided water for a large cornmill, that was demolished in the 1960's, by a millrace that still flows today. Parts of the yard and the rear of the house are cobbled with natural rounded stones which would have been sourced from a beach.

At the far end of the large garden is a 1up/1down stone house with 1/2 doors and a large open cooking fire, it was part of the staff accomodation for the cornmill and dairy farm at Nutgrove in years goneby.
With all the outbuildings and large barn for indoor activities, Nutgrove is well suited for films, weddings and photoshoots, especially with hotels and B&B's nearby in Downpatrick, Ballynahinch and Newcastle and plenty of space for maquees, lorries and cars.
