Marking the Entrance to Waterford Harbour at the mouth of the three sisters river system for over 800 years
The Visitor centre at Hook Lighthouse offers guided tours of the lighthouse tower, a 13th Century Norman structure, built by the Earl of Pembroke as part of the development of his Lordship of Leinster, Purpose built as a lighthouse 800 years ago, and still fully operational today, Hook Lighthouse truly is one of a kind!
Your Tour Guide will take you through the lighthouse with fascinating insights, stories and facts of this unique building.

The tour culminates with the spectacular view from the balcony. The Visitor Centre is located in the former keepers houses where there is a first class gift shop and café, our friendly staff are happy to help with any tourist information you require. Relax by the Sea and keep an eye out for seals dolphins and even whales! In clear weather you can see for miles and in a storm the spray often reaches the top of the lighthouse!

    Best coffee on the peninsula!! Also offering soups, sandwiches and various seafood options, sit and relax in our conservatory watching the waves crashing on the rocks just outside the window, or avail of our WiFi service in the café area.

    Art classes for adults and kids are held at the lighthouse all year round, with resident Artist Rose Finn.

Other events are advertised during the year including our main festival held on the May bank holiday weekend ‘Maritime Matters’ celebrating all things nautical and of course our very spooky Halloween ‘Ghostly Guided Tours!

Hook Head Lighthouse is situated at the end of the R734, 50 km from Wexford, 29 km from Waterford via the Passage East Car Ferry and 38km from New Ross.
