School Life to Open in UK Cinemas Friday, October 13th
11 Oct 2017 :
School Life Opens in UK Cinemas this Friday, followed by a series of screenings in 22 more cinemas across the country.

After great reviews and success at Sundance, IDFA, San Francisco FF, Visions du Réel and many more Festivals worldwide, Neasa Ní Chianáin and David Rane’s European Film Academy nominated documentary, School Life (which began life here in Ireland as In Loco Parentis) opened theatrically in New York on 8th September, rolling out to 32 cities across USA.

This was followed by a week-long Canadian theatrical opening in Toronto last Friday. The UK is the next big theatrical release for the film, and it opens for a week in London in Bertha DocHouse (with Director's Q&A) on Friday 13th, and in Picturehouse Central also from Friday 13th for a week, plus screenings in Art House - Crouch End (with Director’s Q&A) on Sunday 15th, and in Genesis Cinema, Mile End, London on Tuesday 17th.  School Life then plays in 20 Picturehouse Cinemas across the U.K. spread as far apart as Edinburgh to Exeter, on Tuesday 14th November, in Hebden Bridge on 6th November and in Home, Manchester on 19th December. More dates are being added so check www.schoollife.ie for details.

School Life follows a year in the life of John and Amanda Leyden, who have become legends teaching Reading ‘Rithmetic and Rock ‘n Roll to young pupils at Headfort School, an enchanting 18th century Hogwarts-like boarding school in Kells, County Meath. The pace is hectic and the mood infectious as the eccentric couple work their magic in hilarious fashion on fertile young minds. But for pupil and teacher alike, there is poignancy in discovering that leaving is the hardest lesson to learn.

European Film Academy Awards voting closes on Wednesday 18th October, so please don’t forget to vote for all the Irish nominees for the 2018 awards, including School Life in the Best Feature Documentary category.

School Life is a co-production with Grismedio and TVE (Spain), and is supported by Bord Scannain na hÉireann, RTÉ, BAI, Sec 481 and Meath Arts Office in Ireland.
