Production has begun on ‘Is Eolaí Mé’ (I’m a Scientist), a 22 part science series for young people, produced by Meangadh Fíbín for TG4.
The series will be presented by Peadar Ó Goill and Úna Ní Fhlatharta under the consultation of Dr. Naomi Lavelle (Dr. How's Science Wows) and will be directed by Róisín Ní Thuairisg & Deirdre Ní Fhlatharta and produced by Siobhán Ní Bhrádaigh, Darach Ó Tuairisg & Mícheál Ó Domhnaill.
The science series is aimed at 8-12 year olds, an audience practically born with a mouse in their hands. They are completely tech-savvy and have access to all kinds of information. What ‘Meangadh Fíbín’ intend to achieve with ‘Is Eolaí Mé’ is to encourage kids to get back to basics and learn how to investigate and explore the environment in which they live.
Based on the primary school science curriculum, the topics under discussion in ‘Is Eolaí Mé’ will be presented in a fun and entertaining way. The series will feature animated segments along with a short comic drama skit in each episode highlighting the theme or topic of the day written by Patricia Forde and performed by actors Jonathan & Neil Gunning.
‘Is Eolaí Mé’ will air on Cúla4 in 2016 and will be available on TG4.tv.
The show is funded by TG4, with the support of BAI, Sound and Vision scheme and with the support of incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by the Government of Ireland.
