BAI Sound & Vision III Scheme Launches Public Consultation
21 Nov 2013 : By Kevin Cronin
Public ideas now being accepted for improvements to the Sound & Vision III draft document.
The BAI has officially launched a public consultation for its new Sound & Vision III funding scheme, with suggestions as to how it can improve its draft document being accepted from members of the public from now until 8th January 2014.

Sound & Vision III - which will become operational in January 2015 - follows a number of recommendations that emerged from a statutory review of its predecessor scheme, which took place this June.

BAI Chief Executive Michael O’Keeffe praised the significant contribution that previous Sound & Vision schemes made to the quality and diversity of independent productions since its inception in 2005.

‘Following the statutory review of Sound & Vision II, the BAI is keen to build on the success of the previous schemes and to consider the views of broadcasters, programme makers and others before finalizing the terms of the new scheme,’ he said.

Among the enhancements proposed are increased flexibility; a reduction in the administrative burden to applicants; increased transparency in the assessment process and the introduction of targeted rounds.

An introductory video on the BAI Future website also notes a number of changes to the document including the introduction of a territoriality requirement in relation to a production spend; and increased flexibility which may allow for receipt & assessment of applicantions outside of structured funding rounds.

The public consultation for the draft document for Sound & Vision III will remain open until 12 Noon on Wednesday 8th January 2014.

Submissions can be made online, by email to sound&vision3@bai.ie or by post, with the draft scheme & the consultation document both available on the BAI Future website here.

The previous Sound & Vision schemes have been responsible for allocating approximately €117.6m to over 2,000 radio and TV projects since 2005.
