Irish producers Garland & Bushe amongst guest speakers At ENGAGE
27 Apr 2012 : By Steve Cummins
Engage participants
Irish producers Michael Garland and Morgan Bushe were amongst the guest speakers at the first ENGAGE workshop of 2012, an international training project which took place at the National Film School at IADT in Dublin last week.

Alan Maher, production executive of the Irish Film Board also spoke at the three-day workshop, which aims to open international collaborations between new screenwriters, directors and producers.

Garland took part in a case study of director Ian Fitzgibbon’s ‘Death of A Superhero’, which he produced for Grand Pictures. Similarly, Bushe spoke about forthcoming documentary ‘Anton Corbijn Inside Out’, which he co-produced for Dublin-based Fastnet Films. The workshops took place on IADT's Dun Laoghaire campus and at the Light House cinema in Smithfield.

Now in its fifth year, ENGAGE (European Network to Grow A Generation of Audiovisual Entrepreneurs), is funded principally by the EU media programme, with 24 producers, writers and directors from nine countries participating.

The four partners are Screen Academy Scotland at Edinburgh Napier University; the Baltic Film and Media School at Tallinn University (Estonia); the School of Art and Design at Aalto University, Helsinki (Finland); and the NFS at IADT.

The next ENGAGE workshop will take place in Scotland in June to coincide with the beginning of the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
