Windmill Lane Pictures - VFX Producer

Windmill Lane is looking for an experienced VFX producer to join the team.

We are a Dublin, Ireland based postproduction and VFX company working with clients that range from independent filmmakers to international streamers.

In a VFX Producer we are looking for an experienced leader with strong people and project management skills to seamlessly guide projects through the studio pipeline. 

The position requires a business-savvy mindset, strong leadership skills and the ability to multitask with creative insight. Additionally, a solid foundation in technical knowledge can help play an influential role with key stakeholders throughout a project.

Internally, you will work closely with the Head of VFX, finance, technical and creative supervisors and will lead and mentor the production teams to ensure communication, project management and overall studio effectiveness is the best it can possibly be.

Externally, you will be expected to assume client facing responsibilities on project work, bids, and contribute proactively to business development and the sourcing and recruitment of key VFX personnel.


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a VFX producer
  • Dublin based would be a preferred advantage.
  • A thorough understanding of VFX workflows and methodologies from bidding to delivery
  • The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with your team and clients.
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Shotgrid fluency

Key Responsibilities:

Bidding, Client Facing and Delivery 

  • Key frontline contact to clients providing bids, progress reports, approvals, and costs ensuring their creative vision and project expectations are managed and met.
  • Liaise directly with the client to ensure work is progressing as agreed.
  • Schedule and manage all change orders.
  • Manage client expectations.


  • Produce and manage budgets and schedules, ensuring that the project is completed to the highest standard achievable, on time and within budget. 
  • Have/gain and maintain a familiarity with international film and VFX tax breaks, particularly Ireland’s S481. 


  • Work closely with the finance team, reporting weekly on project budgets and resource planning.
  • Provide updates and progress reports to management and internal teams.  


  • Manage project milestones and deliveries in accordance with the implemented schedule and budget.
  • Streamline production processes and workflow and liaise with key support departments. 
  • Oversee dailies and project meetings.  

Scheduling / Resourcing

  • Engage in pitching, bidding, and planning with producers/stakeholders to identify talent needs, scheduling, and strategies. 
  • Manage new project set up needs and procedures by liaising and coordinating with the necessary operational, technical, creative, HR and financial channels.
  • Proactively liaise with HR and finance on talent recruitment, freelance payment, and payroll, etc.  
  • Outsource studios negotiations and hires.
  • Ensure targets and milestones are being hit and, if not, troubleshoot and resolve any scheduling conflicts, issues, or delays.

Team Management 

  • Working with the Head of VFX and Supervisors, you are responsible for creating an environment that helps teams thrive.
  • Ensure everyone is working to the best of their availability and has the time they need to produce great work.
  • Contribute to the management of the project teams along with the VFX Supervisor and Head of VFX. You will be called upon to make decisions that adhere to the budget and schedule but may impact the people delivering the work which requires strong negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Mentor and support the production team, identifying and actioning learning/improvement/training paths for yourself and others particularly around gaining a thorough understanding of live-action and CG based VFX workflows, implementation, and use of Shotgrid, Farmers Wife and any other tools that aid production workflows.
  • Handle artist performance, productivity, attendance, and timekeeping with the production team.
