IRIS Productions wish to recruit a Senior Head of Production, on a permanent basis.

About IRIS Productions:

IRIS Productions is a full-service production company servicing multiple broadcasters including RTÉ, TG4 and BBC. For almost 2 decades IRIS have specialised in sports production, documentary, travel, music, corporate and live-production work, picking up multiple IFTA nominations along the way. We produce live coverage of the United Rugby Championship (URC) for TG4, RTÉ and BBC. We also service a wide slate of sports output which includes:

  • Seó Spóirt 2022
  • Tour de France
  • World Athletics
  • Rugbaí na mBán
  • Energia AIL

IRIS Productions are seeking a suitably qualified Head of Production to help lead our continued expansion in Galway / Dublin. This blended working role offers opportunities for remote working while reporting to our head office in An Spidéal, Co. na Gaillimhe.

About the Role:

Working with the Executive Producer, the Head of Production will oversee all projects on the slate and act as a key decision-maker and liaison between IRIS, funders and broadcasters. We are looking to work with an energised and passionate person with the aim of growing the company. 

Applicants must have strong budgeting and financial skills - ensuring that all productions run smoothly, meet deadlines, and stay within budgets.

The Head of Production will also have responsibility for all organisational aspects of production, post-production, and scheduling across all TV productions.

Key Responsibilities  

●      Create production budgets and shooting schedules and ensure productions stay on schedule and within budget 

●      Oversee all projects from pre-production, production through to post-production 

●      Establish development and production plans for the slate, in consultation with the Executive Producer.

●      Promote a positive work environment for the team, where inclusivity is a priority 

●      Supervise and mentor a small team of Producers  

●      Oversee the hiring of key members of crew including negotiating and issuing crew contracts 

●      Ensure quality of shoots and provide regular feedback to entire crew 

●      Perform research tasks and select shoot locations 

●      Troubleshoot problems that arise during production 

●      Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes of practice and health and safety laws 

●      Work with the company directors to develop and implement company strategy and vision 

●      Work on developing our green strategy and our commitment to a better and greener way of production 




●      Minimum five years' experience producing television programmes across multiple genres (or equivalent Credits as main producer)

●      Experience in Co-productions national/international  

●      Experience working in Sport Broadcasting is an advantage

●      Fluency in Irish is desirable  

●      Excellent planning and multi-tasking skills 

●      Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines 

●      Flexible and mobile and ability to handle financial responsibility 

●      Strong interpersonal skills

●      Full driver’s licence
