Assistant Producer, Sport

About IRIS Productions:

IRIS Productions is a full-service production company servicing multiple broadcasters including RTÉ, TG4 and BBC. For almost 2 decades IRIS have specialised in sports production, documentary, travel, music, corporate and live-production work, picking up multiple IFTA nominations along the way. We produce live coverage of the United Rugby Championship (URC) for TG4, RTÉ and BBC. We also service a wide slate of sports output which includes:

IRIS Productions are seeking a suitably qualified Assistant Producer to join our growing team in Galway / Dublin. This blended working role offers opportunities for remote working while reporting to our head office in An Spidéal, Co. na Gaillimhe.

About the Role:

The role will be to produce distinctive television sports programming across our multiple broadcast outputs and relevant Social Media channels. Through the job you will need to develop relationships with colleagues across all departments, talent and technical staff, external stakeholders including rights agencies and sporting federations. You will answer to the Head of Production and the team of producers in the Sport Department.

Specific Duties & Tasks:

●      To drive content with the highest professional standards that is visually consistent with the style and editorial content of IRIS’ various broadcast output.

●      To produce highlights edits for TV and digital services, often under pressure with a quick turnaround, as well as preparing longer form edits for transmission.

●      To work collaboratively across live sports events and output liaising with technical operatives in the areas such as EVS, Piero, playback and graphics.

●      To engage with and build relationships with contributors, presenters, experts, external stakeholders and technical partners.

●      To work closely, when required, with other areas of the business, including Broadcast and Operations, Content, including Programming, Publicity and Digital teams.

●      To be involved in all areas of the programme making and output, understanding basic satellite and digital delivery methods as well as researching, writing and setting up filming shoots and locations.

●      To engage and embrace IRIS Social Media and Digital channels to promote IRIS and our Programming

●      To plan and organise, ensuring that projects and work are completed in an efficient and timely way, including compiling and completing Rights Clearances for archive and music returns for all platforms.

●      We are looking for both English and Irish speakers to fill this role, but fluency in Irish would be a distinct advantage.

The above list is not exhaustive. You will be expected to perform duties as necessitated by your changing role and the overall business objectives of the Company, as directed.

Skills & Expertise:

●      Strong editorial judgement and an in-depth knowledge of the Irish sports agenda

●      Thoroughness for accuracy and an excellence in attention to detail

●      Experience of cutting inserts, to complete films and highlights of sporting events on one or more of Avid, Premiere, FCPX or Da Vinci Resolve

●      Good organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and changing priorities

●      Ability to use and engage in social digital media to promote content

●      Understanding of TV and digital production skills and requirements

●      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team

Desirable:

●      2 years’ experience of working on live OB productions

●      On air experience in terms of reporting, both interviewing and voicing material

●      Awareness of the latest technologies to deliver the highest quality cost-efficient programming
