CASTING ASSOCIATE – EXTRAS IRELAND

Extras Ireland, the newest casting agency in Ireland for background/featured extras, actors and models are looking for a Casting Associate with a dynamic and ambitious attitude, to spearhead the development and daily operations of this exciting and evolving department.  The person required needs drive, business acumen and a keen eye for talent. Reporting to the Company Directors, the individual with manage the process of casing extras, actors and models for commercials, print advertising, television programs, films and digital media.  

The Casting Associate must work closely with Production Companies, Broadcasting Organisations, Advertising Agencies, Directors and Writers to determine casting requirements for projects and search, source or locate suitable talent and extras for submission.

The individual is required to have:

  • A wide knowledge of extras, actors, TV, film and the commercial environment
  • Good computer and technology skills.
  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organisational and time management skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to recognise true talent
  • An exceptionally good memory and strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent social media skills
  • Knowledge of how to operate a video camera and basic sound equipment
  • Knowledge of health and safety laws and etiquette and regulations that apply to extras/actors on set
  • The ability to give and take direction
  • Patience and be hard-working, professional and diplomatic at all times

They must:

  • Acquire detailed role descriptions or read scripts to establish casting requirements. 
  • Liaise with directors, writers or producers to determine physical attributes or specific skills of talent to be cast
  • Submit selection lists of suitable and available people
  • Assist producers and directors refine lists and provide advice on the experience, ability, reputation, and availability of the talent
  • Call and schedule chosen extras/talent for assignments, auditions, or costume fittings 
  • Arrange open or street casing sessions for particular roles and manage all rounds of the auditions and bookings 
  • Know where and how to find the best talent for specific projects
  • Be able to draw up and negotiate the terms and conditions of contracts with clients
  • Negotiate fees and payment options with extras, actors, models or their agents 
  • Arrange Meet & Greet days for individuals wishing to sign up to Extras Ireland 
  • Review application forms and photographs and pre-screen candidates before registration 
  • Take photographs or short video clips if required 
  • Respond to daily telephone and email correspondence and deal with queries 
  • Find replacements for extras/talent who cancel bookings at short notice
  • Maintain all aspects of the database ensuring information is correctly input for proper search and retrieval 
  • Take responsibility for social media updates on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ etc and also on the company website 
  • Carry out other relevant role-related duties as they become evident which is not exhaustible to this list
     

Business Development:

A large percentage of this role will be devoted to business development, which will include networking and attending entertainment events to build a strong and loyal client list.  

We require the Casting Associate to introduce and promote Extras Ireland to the commercial and associated media market and be a professional advocate for the company through consistent marketing and promotional activities via telephone, email, print, social media and other relevant communication channels. They will require great dedication and commitment and an appreciation of changing trends within the industry.

Educational Qualifications, Salary and Work Environment 
A degree/qualification in Arts, English, Film, Communications or Media Studies combined with an active interest in film, television, commercials, and casting is essential.  The person must be able to work in a high-pressure environment where customer service is paramount and be willing to work long and flexible hours which could include evenings and weekends.  Salary is commensurate on experience.
