Fundraising & Sponsorship Executive

Background

IFTA is a not-for-profit all-Ireland organisation with a membership of 1,300 Irish industry professionals.  The Academy works to celebrate, honour, and promote the achievements and growth of Irish creative talent by identifying and platforming excellence, while nurturing new talent in front and behind the camera, while enabling learning and creative collaboration.

In addition to our Awards ceremonies (19 Award Ceremonies produced), we have a year-round programme of learning events and initiatives that offer unique access to some of the world’s most inspiring talent, through workshops, masterclasses, lectures, discussions, workshops, and mentoring programmes in Ireland (Over 500 events - including Martin Scorsese, Michael Moore, Sharon Horgan, Liam Neeson, Daisy Ridley).

The position:  

Reporting to the Chief Executive the Fundraising & Sponsorship Executive will work closely with the Head of Film & Television and will have excellent administration.

IFTA’s new Fundraising & Sponsorship Executive will join a dynamic team to deliver on the Fundraising & Sponsorship remit of the Academy’s annual Awards Ceremonies and Year-Round Learning Programme of Events.  The core function of this varied and exciting role is to generate income for the Academy and to develop bespoke commercial sponsorship opportunities for key events and strands including Award Ceremonies.  It is therefore essential that the successful candidate has previous experience and a strong track record in liaising with sponsorship agencies & funding organisations as well as delivering on funding targets. This person will use their skills and experience to develop and implement a funding strategy in line with IFTA’s 5-Year Strategic Development Plan, and will oversee the public funding application processes for the Academy. 


Key responsibilities 

  • Developing and Delivering on a fundraising & sponsorship strategy.
  • Initiate and develop relationships with funders and potential funders, exhibiting a high quality of engagement.
  • Attracting sponsorship for events and overall Academy activities.
  • Managing Public Funding Applications for core Academy Activities.
  • Responsible for day-to-day engagement with new & existing sponsorship clients.
  • Ensuring thorough implementation of all sponsorship & promotions deals.
  • To support others in the organisation to  development project plans that are ‘fundraising - ready’.
  • Reporting and communicating timelines and deliverables for the key strands of the fundraising campaigns. 
  • Keeping abreast of developments in fundraising and identify and initiate new and creative opportunities for increasing income.

Essential Criteria for this role:

  • Excellent organisation and communication skills (both written and oral) as well as interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels with diplomacy and professionalism and to work with a team.
    • Have a degree in Marketing/Advertising or at least 2 years’ experience in a sponsorship/fundraising role
  • A track record in the practical side of fundraising: researching key prospects; securing introductions; developing and delivering compelling pitches; working with and influencing individuals at senior levels; and building long-term relationships.
  • Ability to develop a vision, formulate strategy and deliver objectives.
  • Excellent IT skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive etc.  
  • Ability to multi- task and work to deadlines and adapt to changes.
  • Excellent creativity and influencing skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Awareness of Irish Film & TV industry is desirable.
